Champagne Horror, published in 8 1/2" x 11" format, features sixty
pages of horrific stories, poems, and art created by writers and artists
from Canada, the United States, Austria, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Germany,
Italy, and Japan. Special features include "The Transylvania Times,"
"The Translyvania Classifieds," "Horrorscopes by Victoria D'Angelo," and
"Demented Nursery Rhymes." Its semi-gloss covers are designed by
award-winning Hungarian artist Horvath Akis, and the interior
illustrations highlight the talents of American artists Allen
Koszowski, David L. Transue, Marge B. Simon, Bucky Montgomery, and
Italy's Bernadino Mario, just to name a few.
This fine collection of the macabre includes stories and poems by Alan Catlin, whose work focuses on the absurd thoughts, actions, and insane ramblings of his mother, and you'll also read stories by such notables as Cliff Burns, John-Ivan Palmer, Michael J. Lotus, R.J. Michaelz, and many more. Poets Justice Howard, William P. Robertson, Tao Rae Tasmaine, Jeannette M. Hopper, and others contribute unique ideas through eerie verse and demented nursery rhymes. And the biographical sketches of the contributors are just as entertaining as the rest of the package! When Champagne Horror was published back in 1990, the editor sealed up a percentage of the press run to be re-released in 1999/2000 as a tribute to the small press. Back in 1990, very few horror magazines were published in Canada and Champagne Horror received rare reviews in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Since then, the magazine has become a collector's item but it can be yours for $8.00 (this price includes the $2.00 required for postage and handling.)
