Sometime in 2001, a group of Australian writers and readers were complaining about both the lack of local markets and the sad tendency for Speculative Fiction to be incredibly grim and gritty. Where was the fun? Where was the excitement? The humor? Bring back the pulps! we said.

Then we said . . . I guess we ought to do something about it.

Thus was formed the Andromeda Spaceways Publishing Co-Op. And in June 2002 we launched (to considerable acclaim) the Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine (ASIM for short).
